Clearing the Lung Meridian
In Chinese medicine, the use of points and meridians helps to balance one’s Qi (chi), or life-force energy, throughout the body. It is believed that the internal organs can be manipulated and treated through these points and meridian lines.
I use meridians a lot in my bodywork practice—most commonly the liver as it relates to anger and depression, the gallbladder to support the liver, the lung as it relates to grief and sadness, and the kidney as it relates to anxiety. It helps to have another person who can act as a channel to help stimulate the flow of your Qi through blockages and soothe points that may be over activated, but you can use self-massage and touch techniques on yourself with very good results!
Because the current full moon in Gemini will affect the lungs and bronchial tubes, I wanted to include a meridian map for these points. You can tap, press or brush along this meridian to flush the Qi and clear any blockages, thus supporting your lungs and bronchial tubes. And, as always, breathe.
Tapping—use one or two finger pads to tap 4-6 times on the points as indicated and then along the meridian. Your fingers and hands should be relaxed allowing almost a bouncing sensation in the fingers and wrist.
Pressing—use your thumb or two gentle fingers to press and hold over each point for 4-6 seconds. If you feel pain, back off on the pressure. Pain is usually an indicator of blocked Qi. Then, I like to use my palm to press along the meridian between points.
Brushing—using loose fingers brush over the points and along the meridian as if sweeping the energy over and through your skin.
Still feeling a little stuffed up? Gimme a call. We can do it together!
